THE TULSA POLICE DEPARTMENT CONTINUES OPERATION LASER FOCUS WITH THE 2020 PSN GRANT, FOCUSING PRIMARILY ON INHIBITING GANG AND GUN CRIMES IN THE AREA THROUGH COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND TARGETED PATROL. THE TARGETED ENFORCEMENT AREAS (TEAS) ARE: THE ADAM 1 AND 2 BEATS IN THE GILCREASE DIVISION, AND THE EDWARD 1 AND 2 BEATS IN THE MINGO VALLEY DIVISION. THESE AREAS WERE SELECTED BASED ON THEIR LEVEL OF VIOLENT CRIME, PARTICULARLY ROBBERIES, AGGRAVATED ASSAULTS, AND HOMICIDES. THE MAIN CRIMES TO BE TARGETED ARE AGGRAVATED ASSAULTS WITH A FIREARM AND ROBBERIES WITH A FIREARM, WHICH INCLUDE SHOOTING WITH INTENT TO KILL, POINTING A DEADLY WEAPON, AND SHOOTING INTO AN OCCUPIED DWELLING. THE FUNDS WILL BE USED FOR OVERTIME HOURS SO THAT OFFICERS CAN FOLLOW UP ON LEADS, IDENTIFY SUSPECTS, PATROL HOT SPOT LOCATIONS, AND SURVEIL THE MOST VIOLENT GANG CRIMINALS. IN THIS GRANT, TPD AIMS TO CULTIVATE A STRONGER RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY AND IDENTIFY HIGH RISK INDIVIDUALSÂ THE PROJECT AIMS TO CREATE POSITIVE INTERACTIONS WITH THESE INDIVIDUALS. CURRENTLY, THE IMPD HAS ONE CAMERA PLATFORM THAT IS OVER 10 YEARS OLD.
