The grants below have been awarded to one of the cities or counties we are currently tracking in this database. It is not a complete list of all grants awarded from this assistance program, which may include additional cities, counties, or other jurisdictions and/or grants not awarded to law enforcement agencies.

We do not recommend aggregating the amounts shown here, as these grants may include both prime and sub grants. Totaling the grant amount here would result in some funding being double-counted – for example, if a county received a grant and subsequently made a sub-grant to a city within the county.

THE TIPPECANOE COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCE (TCDTF) WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1996 AND CURRENTLY CONSISTS OF TEN UNDERCOVER DETECTIVES FROM FIVE SEPARATE POLICE AGENCIES: LAFAYETTE POLICE DEPARTMENT, WEST LAFAYETTE POLICE DEPARTMENT, TIPPECANOE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, PURDUE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND THE INDIANA STATE POLICE. THE TEAM'S PRIMARY MISSION IS TO INVESTIGATE ILLEGAL NARCOTIC DISTRIBUTION IN AND AROUND TIPPECANOE COUNTY. WE ALSO WORK WITH SURROUNDING COUNTIES, STATE, AND FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES DURING MANY OF OUR INVESTIGATIONS. OUR PROGRAMS PRIMARY OBJECTIVES DIRECTLY CORRELATE WITH THE GRANTS PRIORITY OF "RESPONDING TO THE OPIOID CRISIS", AS ALMOST HALF OUR INVESTIGATIONS INVOLVE THE ILLEGAL DISTRIBUTION OF HEROIN AND/OR FENTANYL. OUR WORK IN REMOVING DRUG DEALERS FROM OUR COMMUNITY ALSO DIRECTLY IMPACTS THE GRANT PRIORITY OF " REDUCING VIOLENT CRIMES". IT IS WIDELY ACCEPTED, THE MAJORITY OF VIOLENT CRIMES IN OUR COMMUNITY IS ASSOCIATED WITH ILLEGAL DRUG USE AND/OR DISTRIBUTION. IN 2018, THE TCDTF CONDUCTED OVER 90 CONTROLLED PURCHASES OF NARCOTICS. TO DATE IN 2019, THE TCDTF HAS CONDUCTED 84 CONTROLLED PURCHASES OF NARCOTICS. IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS, TIPPECANOE COUNTY HAS EXPERIENCED A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF NARCOTIC ARRESTS. THIS TREND IS ONE OF MANY INDICATORS THAT OUR COMMUNITY HAS EXPERIENCED A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN DRUG DEALERS, DRUG SUPPLY, AND ILLEGAL DRUG CONSUMERS. THE REQUESTED FUNDS FROM THE JAG GRANT WILL ALLOW THE TCDTF TO BE MORE EFFECTIVE IN OUR MISSION, ALLOWING US TO EXPAND THE SIZE AND SCOPE OF OUR INVESTIGATIONS. ADDING ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR OVERTIME AND BUY MONEY FOR CONTROLLED PURCHASES OF NARCOTICS
